Beef & Pork Speciality Yakitori House in Tokyo : Torishige

Tori-shige is all about grilled beef & pork (not chicken surprisingly), seeing as tori actually stands for chicken. They do have two chicken dishes available, the chicken tsukune & the grilled pepper stuffed with chicken paste.

As you my know in Japan, many restaurants prefer sticking to traditional Japanese ingredients in their dishes. At Tori-shige, you will see the use of black truffle and caviar, which was what really attracted me to the restaurant in the first place.

Their Ginza outpost is actually a one-michelin starred restaurant in Tokyo Michelin Guide 2016. So I expected high quality food, which they met the mark.

Avg cost per head at dinner : 10,000¥

Reservations are highly recommended as they are very popular with the locals.

Not an easy restaurant to locate, but it is a stone throw away from the stand alone Macdonald’s building.
Such a tiny kitchen for so many chefs!
Matsutake Mushroom which was perfectly grilled, the aluminum foil kept in all the juice.
Condiments to go with your grilled meats. Free

Grilled pepper stuffed with chicken paste.
Grilled Pork Tongue which came highly recommended by the waitress, the flavour is strong and unlike beef tonque’s texture which is extremely chewy.
Beef jowl with leek.
Kagoshima wagyu beef topped with fresh sea urchin, caviar and raw egg. Quickly stir the raw eggs into the warm rice once served. This was my favourite dish of the night. Pre-order needed.

Kagoshima wagyu beef with black truffle.

Kagoshima wagyu beef topped with uni and caviar.

Sukiyaki style grilled kagoshima wagyu beef donburi.

Will I Return O-Meter : Yes. Value for money. Reservations highly recommended.
