Teppei quite literally brought in the Barachirashi hype in Singapore. They marketed themselves as cheap and good spot for Japanese food. And boy…have they done well. Setting up multiple food chains across Singapore. But the roots of Teppei is really here. Snagging a table here for dinner is almost close to impossible, reservations open up 3 months in advance.
Your best option? Walk-in during lunch.
Only bar counter seats are available. You’ll get to see all the chefs in action. Once seated, you’ll be served iced ocha before proceeding to taking your lunch order. Placed atop of the counter are side-dishes that you can have (unlimited) beansprout, simmered salmon bones etc. Miso soup is also included in your lunch set. I suspected it’s unlimited too since I wasn’t charged for topping mine up.
Overall, Teppei is one of my favourite spot for a filling and not overly expensive Japanese lunch. Minus coming out smelling like food.
